Twelve Days of Christmas (sort of!)

It’s that time of year again! The annual madness has taken over when we’re gripped with the need to make lists, shop like there’s no tomorrow and have an unhealthy obsession with all things sparkly, gold and shiny. We could write a blog here about the pressures of Christmas and maintaining routines and boundaries – and to be honest we probably will, but for now, here’s a little bit of silliness. Has to be done.

Sing a long – you know you want to! (it doesn’t scan but go with it!)

On the first day of Christmas my children gave to me – uneven baubles on MY Christmas tree (disturbing)

On the second day of Christmas my children gave to me – 2 chocolatey faces

On the third day of Christmas my children gave to me – 3 lists of outrageous presents

On the fourth day of Christmas my children gave to me – 4 headless Santas

On the fifth day of Christmas my children gave to me – 5 sleepless nights

On the sixth day of Christmas my children gave to me – 6 homemade biscuits (See – nice ones too!)

On the seventh day of Christmas my children gave to me – 7 rejected Brussels (nothing to do with Brexit we promise)

On the eighth day of Christmas my children gave to me – 8 stonking migraines

On the ninth day of Christmas my children gave to me – 9 out of tune carols (accompanied by obligatory recorders)

On the tenth day of Christmas my children gave to me – 10 sugar rushes

On the eleventh day of Christmas my children gave to me – 11 glitter filled nappies (you know – because children eat glitter and there is only one way for that to come out)

On the 12th day of Christmas I treated myself and gave to me – 12 large glugs of pink gin!

And so there it is – you’ve all sung it in your head, realised none of it really worked, thought of better ones, but then got to the 12th day and forgiven everything. Enjoy, relax, lift some of the pressure off yourselves and understand that your children will be OK if they don’t have the latest thingy that lights up and makes weird noises. Normal blogging will resume shortly!

Merry Christmas!
